These handcuffs use a high security lock in each cuff. The key is not necessary when applying an opened pair, they will "snap" shut. The cuffs are welded to each other at 90 degrees for comfort. The wrists cannot turn in the cuffs and are held crossing each other. If they are applied with the keyholes facing backwards it is basically impossible for the wearer to unlock them without help. Yet, they are basically rather comfortable.
